Unicorn Cakes in Bracknell
Horn, ears, a piped mane and a pastel cake underneath, from £100 for a 6-inch feeding 8–12. The two-tier rainbow version is from £270 and feeds 22–30.
One thing matters more than the rest: the horn is dried hard for days before it can stand. Ask early, because that is the part no rush fee can shorten.

What actually goes wrong with a unicorn cake?
The horn droops. It is the only part of the design that has to stand up against gravity, and sugar paste only resists gravity once it has dried hard — which takes days, not the few hours between finishing a cake and delivering it. A horn made on the morning of the party will bend, slowly and visibly, on the table.
Everything else is forgiving. The ears are flat and supported, the mane is piped onto the cake itself, the eyes are drawn on. So when a unicorn cake fails it fails in exactly one place, and the only cure is time. That is the whole reason this page asks you to order earlier than you would for a plain cake of the same size.
Which mane should you choose?
Piped buttercream is the classic: rosettes and swirls in three or four pastels, soft at the edges, exactly what most people picture when they say unicorn cake. It is also the most forgiving and the cheapest, because it is a way of applying buttercream rather than an addition to it.
Fondant strips give a sleeker mane that reads as sculpture rather than frosting, and a mane made of flowers — piped, sugar or fresh — turns the whole cake into something a teenager or an adult would be happy to be given. Piped florals are £35; fresh flowers are covered on the flower page, including which ones must never touch a cake.
Is a rainbow inside worth it?
It is the commonest extra asked for here and it changes the cake more than the outside does. Coloured layers mean six thin sponges instead of three thick ones, each baked and levelled separately, so it is more work and a taller cake — the reason it is quoted with the design rather than listed. What you get is a cut that children remember, which is arguably what the whole cake is for.
The colours page explains which shades behave, character cakes covers the other themes, two-tier cakes the rainbow version, and first birthdays the age this is ordered for most.
