How long is the drive to your town?
Measured with a routing engine against the kitchen’s own postcode in October, one run per town, so the figures are the same ones the town pages quote. The twenty nearest are below; the full list of 49 is on the service areas page, and each of the 24 towns with a page of its own says what a delivery there actually involves.

Not listed? Ask. The list is the places we have driven to and timed, not the edge of where we will go.
Should you collect it or have it delivered?
Collect anything single-tier and flat-boxed: it is free, the boot of a car is as good a place for a boxed cake as a van, and the longest drive on the list is 29 minutes, which a cake makes easily. Take delivery when the cake has tiers, when it is tall, or when the day is already carrying more than you want to hold. The difference is not the cake’s safety in transit so much as whose problem it is: once we are driving, the risk is ours until the cake is in your hands.
Which to choose
One tier, boxed, under twenty minutes away — collect, and save £30.
Two or three tiers — delivery, because the tiers are stacked at your end, not ours.
A hot day, or a venue you cannot park at — delivery.
A Monday event — neither on the day: the kitchen is closed, so it goes out on the Saturday.
If you are driving, how to carry a cake without ruining it is the five-minute version of everything that goes wrong.
Why is there no flat delivery charge?
Because a flat charge is either a subsidy or a penalty, and from a kitchen that drives its own cakes it would be obvious which. The spread on this list runs from a few minutes inside Bracknell to 29 minutes at Tilehurst, so one price for both would overcharge the near end to pay for the far one. The figure starts at £30 and is quoted with your postcode in the enquiry, before any money changes hands — there are no zone bands and no fuel surcharge.
