How ordering works
Five steps, about 7–10 days from the first message to a cake on your table. The only one that needs any thought is the first, and nothing is charged until you have a price you are happy with.
What are the steps?
Each one has a rough time against it so you can work backwards from your date. A cake from £100 and a two-tier wedding cake go through exactly the same five.
1. Send the enquiry2 minutes
Tell us the date, how many people are eating and what the cake is for. Photographs of anything you like the look of help more than a description does.
2. Get a pricewithin 24 hours
We come back with a firm price for what you described and what we would make of it. Nothing is charged to get this far, and changing your mind at this point costs nothing either.
3. Hold the datesame day
A 50% deposit books the date. The balance is due 3 hours before the agreed collection time, or in cash on collection; for a wedding it is due 7 days before the date; orders under £50 are paid in full up front.
4. We make it7–10 days
Baking, filling and decorating happen in the days before your date, not weeks ahead — a cake is at its best new. A bento needs only 3–5 days' notice.
5. Collect or have it deliveredon the day
Collection from Bracknell is free. Delivery is from £30, quoted by distance from RG12 0UY, and the cake comes with instructions for keeping it until it is cut.
When do I have to ask by?
The dates people order for, and the last day to ask for each. A simple cake wants 7–10 days; two tiers or detailed decoration want at least 14. Past that, a rush adds 50% if the diary has room.
| Date | Ask by, simple cake | Ask by, two tiers |
|---|---|---|
| Hallowe’enSaturday, 31 October 2026 | ask about a rush | ask about a rush |
| Christmas DayFriday, 25 December 2026 | 15 December | 11 December |
| New Year's EveThursday, 31 December 2026 | 21 December | 17 December |
| Valentine's DaySunday, 14 February 2027 | 4 February | 31 January |
| Mothering SundaySunday, 7 March 2027 | 25 February | 21 February |
| Easter SundaySunday, 28 March 2027 | 18 March | 14 March |
Easter, Christmas and New Year are taken from the government’s bank holiday list; Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Lent, counted back from Easter. Eid and Diwali are not here because they move with the lunar calendar — tell us your date and we will count back from it. Popular Saturdays go before any of these deadlines do, so asking early costs nothing.
What should I know before paying?

What else do people ask?
How far in advance should I order?
7–10 days for a custom cake and 3–5 for a bento. A wedding cake wants a month, mostly because the design takes a few rounds and the dates go early.
What if my date is sooner than that?
Ask anyway. A rush adds 50% inside 7 days, if the diary allows. What a fee cannot buy is drying time, so a cake with modelled figures on it may still be out of reach.
Is the deposit refundable?
It is not refundable, but it is transferable to another date if you tell us 4 days before the collection day; after that it stays non-refundable. The deposit is 50% of the total.
Can you copy a cake I have seen?
We don't replicate exact designs; we take inspiration and create something unique. Send the picture anyway — it tells us the shape, the palette and the level of detail you are after, which is most of the brief.
Will my cake be photographed?
We may photograph cakes for portfolio/social media unless you prefer otherwise. Tell us when you order and it stays off the website and off Instagram.
