Flower Cakes in Bracknell
Three different things hide behind the word. Piped buttercream flowers are a finish, +£35 on any size. Sugar flowers are modelled by hand and quoted with the design. Fresh flowers are not food, and this page says what to do instead.
Fruit and berries, arranged on the day, are included — and they are the only one of the four that everybody at the table can eat.

Which kind of flower do you actually want?
The word covers four products with different prices, different lifespans and different answers to “can I eat it”. Most people arrive wanting the look of fresh flowers and leave with sugar or buttercream, because those are the two that can sit on a cake for an afternoon without anybody worrying. The table below is the comparison.
| Kind | Cost | Edible | Holds up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Piped buttercream | +£35 | Yes | Softens in a warm room |
| Sugar, modelled | Quoted | Technically | All day, and keeps afterwards |
| Fruit and berries | Included | Yes, properly | Hours, then tired |
| Fresh florist flowers | Not offered | No | See the toppers page |
“Technically” is the honest word for sugar flowers: they are made of sugar paste and wire, so the flower is edible and the wire is not. They come off before the cake is cut, like a topper.
Why are sugar flowers expensive?
Because they are made one petal at a time, days before the cake. A single peony is a dozen petals cut, veined, shaped, dried over a form, wired together and dusted with colour — and then it has to be done again for the next one. The cost is hours of somebody’s attention, which is why sugar flowers are quoted by the number and the kind rather than carried on a price list, and why they are the one decoration that cannot be added late.
That also makes them the only flower worth the money on a cake that has to stand up all day. For a cake being cut within the hour, piped buttercream at +£35 does the same job for a fraction of it — the buttercream page covers what else piping can do, including the Lambeth work that a floral cake often sits alongside.
What goes on a cake instead of flowers?
Fruit, and it is included rather than extra: berries and sliced fruit arranged on the day by the baker, which is the house style on the vegan cake and on half the signature menu. It photographs as well as flowers, it is unambiguously food, and it costs nothing — the trade is that it is arranged to the baker’s eye on the morning rather than designed in advance.
After that, macarons at £3 each, which are the one decoration people pick off and eat before the cake is cut. For a cake that needs to look floral without being floral, a watercolour painted finish puts the flowers in the surface rather than on it, and the wedding page explains how a colour scheme is matched from a photograph.
