Wedding Anniversary Cakes in Bracknell
Silver, pearl, ruby, golden, diamond — each anniversary has a traditional name, and the name is where the colour of the cake comes from. The table below has every year people actually order a cake for.
From £70 for a 4" bento for the two of you to £270 for two tiers feeding 22–30, made in Bracknell and delivered across Berkshire.
What does an anniversary cake cost?
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
4" bento for the two of you Most anniversaries are not a party, and this is the cake for that 4 portions | £70 |
8" cake A family lunch — children and grandchildren 14–18 portions | £130 |
10" cake The big one, for a hall and a speech 22–28 portions | £150 |
6" + 8" two tier For a golden or a diamond, where the cake should look like the wedding did 22–30 portions | £270 |
Most anniversary orders here are the small cake rather than the large one, which is worth knowing if you were assuming a party. Engagements and anniversaries covers the occasion more broadly, and heart-shaped cakes are the shape asked for most for one.

Which anniversary is which?
The traditional British list names a material for each year, and from about the twenty-fifth onwards those names are the ones families actually use — nobody says “our eleventh”, and everybody says “our golden”. The table below gives the name and the palette it implies. The colour is not a tradition we have invented: it is simply the colour of the thing the year is named after.
| Years | Name | The palette it suggests |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Paper | White, or whatever the invitation was |
| 10 | Tin | Silver and white |
| 15 | Crystal | Clear, white, a lot of sparkle |
| 20 | China | White with a painted pattern |
| 25 | Silver | Silver on white |
| 30 | Pearl | Ivory, with pearls piped or placed |
| 40 | Ruby | Deep red — and red is worth reading about |
| 50 | Gold | Gold leaf on cream |
| 60 | Diamond | White, silver, cut-glass sparkle |
| 70 | Platinum | White and pale silver |
Years in between have names too — coral at thirty-five, sapphire at forty-five, emerald at fifty-five — and they are rarely ordered for. If yours is one of them, say the year and the colour will follow.
Should the cake look like the wedding did?
It is the better idea more often than the traditional colour is, and almost nobody thinks of it. A golden wedding cake in gold and cream is handsome and interchangeable; a golden wedding cake in the ivory and the flowers of the original wedding is about these two people. If there is a photograph of the first cake, send it — not to be copied, but because the colours and the shapes in it are the brief.
That is also the one case where a printed photograph on the cake earns its place: the wedding picture on top of the anniversary cake is the detail that makes a room go quiet. The photo page explains which pictures survive printing — an old photograph often prints better than a new one, because the contrast is higher.
How big is an anniversary really?
Two people, most of the time. The great majority of anniversary cakes ordered here are the 4" bento at £70 — a whole cake for the two of them on the evening rather than a quarter of a large one — and the big orders cluster on the round numbers, where the family organises something. If you are between the two, the question is whether anybody is making a speech.
The bento page has the small cakes, two-tier cakes explains when the second tier is worth the money, and the colours page covers matching a shade from a photograph.
