Afternoon Tea Cakes in Bracknell
This is the sweet tier of an afternoon tea, made to order: macarons at £5 each, 6 cupcakes for £45, a 4" cake for £70 serving 4, and meringues or dipped strawberries quoted by the box. Collected in Bracknell or delivered across Berkshire.
Scones, sandwiches and clotted cream are not made here, and the number worth knowing before you order anything is two to three pieces a head — an afternoon tea has two courses in front of this one.

How many pieces does an afternoon tea actually need?
Two to three a head, and the reason is the running order. An afternoon tea is three courses eaten upwards — sandwiches, then scones with jam and cream, then the sweet tier — so by the time anybody reaches a macaron they have already had a meal. Six people therefore want something like 6 cupcakes at £45, or a dozen macarons at £5 each, not a box each. Twelve people want 12 cupcakes at £70 and perhaps one cake to cut. Buy for the number of people, halve what instinct says, and put the difference into variety instead.
What to put on the top tier
Macarons — £5 each, one bite, and the best keeper on the list.
Cupcakes — £7.50 a cake in a box of 6; ask for the icing kept low for a stand.
Meringues — quoted by the box, dry and patient.
Dipped strawberries — the shortest-lived and the most photographed.
Which of these can sit out all afternoon?
Sort them by what is inside. A macaron and a meringue are dry-shelled and hold for hours at room temperature without changing, which is why they are the two things to put out first and stop worrying about. A cupcake keeps its shape but its buttercream goes soft in a warm room, so it is better on a cool table than a sunny one. Anything filled with fresh cream belongs in the fridge until the moment it goes out, and dipped strawberries are at their best within a few hours of being made and visibly past it by the evening. The cake care page covers keeping, and the rule of a closed box in the fridge applies to all of it until serving.
What should you buy elsewhere?
The scones, the clotted cream and the sandwiches. None of the three is made here and there is no version of this order that includes them: a scone is at its best within an hour of coming out of the oven, which no advance order can deliver, and the other two are not baking at all. The arrangement that works is to order the sweet tier ahead and do the scones on the morning — and if you would rather not bake, a supermarket scone warmed for a few minutes is a great deal better than a stale one from anywhere. Cream tea or afternoon tea sets out what belongs to each course, including the jam-first argument.
