What is a Biscoff cake?
A Biscoff cake is built around the caramelised spiced biscuit of that name and its spread: usually the spread goes into the buttercream or a drip, and crushed or whole biscuits go on top. The flavour is toffee-like and gently spiced rather than chocolatey, which makes it the one of the four for people who find chocolate cakes too heavy.
What is a Malteser cake?
A Malteser cake is normally a chocolate cake with a malted note, finished with the honeycomb-centred chocolate balls — pressed round the sides, piled on top, or both. It is a cake people recognise from across the room, which is why it turns up so often at children's and teenagers' birthday parties.
What is a Ferrero Rocher cake?
A Ferrero Rocher cake takes its cue from the gold-wrapped chocolate: chocolate and hazelnut flavours in the cake, with the chocolates themselves set on top as the decoration. It is the dressiest of the four and suits an anniversary or a dinner as well as a birthday. As with all four, the allergen list for your cake comes with the quote, and the allergen page sets out how this kitchen handles allergens.
What is a Nutella cake?
A Nutella cake uses the chocolate-hazelnut spread as its filling, its frosting or both, so the whole cake tastes of it rather than just the top. It is the plainest-looking of the four and the easiest to theme, because the flavour is inside: the outside can carry a name, a colour or a design. For a cake built on chocolate alone, see chocolate cakes.
