Eid Cakes in Bracknell & Berkshire

From £100 for 8–12 slices, made to order and delivered across Berkshire. “Eid Mubarak” piped on is part of the price.

The hard part of an Eid cake is not the cake, it is the date: the day depends on the moon and is often confirmed a day or two before, against a cake that wants 7–10 days’ notice. The answer is the two days a cake keeps — book the day you expect, tell us if it moves, and a one-day shift costs nothing.

How do you book a cake for a date nobody knows yet?

By booking the date you expect and treating a shift as a detail rather than a new order. Three facts make that work. A cake keeps two days in a fridge, so the day either side of the one you chose is covered. Collection runs seven days a week except Monday, so a weekend shift is not a problem. And the deposit moves with you on 4 days’ notice if the gathering moves properly rather than by a day.

Ordering against a moving date

Count back 10 days from the end of Ramadan, not from the announcement.

Book the day you expect. Say in the enquiry that it may move by one.

Collect on the day you were given — it is still right the day after.

Monday is the only day nothing can be collected, so if the likely day is a Monday, say so and the cake is made for Sunday.

What can you tell me about the ingredients?

Everything, which is a different thing from a certificate. This kitchen is not certified halal and does not claim to be, so a page saying otherwise would be worth nothing to you. What is worth something is the list: tell us in the enquiry what has to be avoided — alcohol in a flavouring, gelatine in a decoration, a particular fat — and the reply names what is in the cake you are ordering and what can be left out of it. Our kitchen handles all major allergens (celery, gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, tree nuts). While we take every care, products may contain traces of allergens.

Cake, cupcakes or biscuits for the table?

Depends how the afternoon runs. A cake is cut once and photographed; cupcakes are handed round for hours and need no plates; oreshki sit in a bowl and disappear, sold by the kilogram and posted anywhere in the UK if the family you are feeding is not in Berkshire. Plenty of Eid orders here are a cake for the table and a kilo of biscuits for everyone arriving.

What else do people ask?

Allergies? Our kitchen handles all 14 of the allergens UK law requires us to declare, so nothing we bake is free from any of them. What is in each cake, and our hygiene rating.
