What is Honey Cake with Prunes & Nuts?

Honey Cake with Prunes & Nuts is a layered honey cake, known as medovik, made with caramel cream, prunes and walnuts. It is made to order at our studio in Bracknell, Berkshire, and comes in six-inch, eight-inch and ten-inch sizes. All three sizes are 5 inches high, so the size you choose changes the width of the cake, not its height.

The cake tastes sweet and nutty. Its sweetness comes from the honey and the caramel cream, and the walnuts add a nutty flavour alongside the prunes. The caramel cream, prunes and walnuts are all present in every slice, so no single one of them is left out.

The layered honey base is the foundation of the cake, and the caramel cream, prunes and walnuts are added to it. Because each cake is made to order, the sizes and writing are chosen when you place your enquiry.

How does it differ from our Classic Honey Cake and Spartak?

It differs from our Classic Honey Cake and Spartak in its filling, which is caramel cream with prunes and walnuts. The Classic Honey Cake has thin honey layers generously soaked in velvety vanilla pastry cream, whereas this cake uses caramel cream and adds prunes and walnuts. Unlike the Classic, it has nuts and prunes in it.

The Spartak is our Chocolate Honey Cake, with thin chocolate honey layers soaked in vanilla or chocolate pastry cream. Rather than chocolate, this cake is built on honey and caramel, with the nutty and fruity notes of the prunes and walnuts.

Choose this cake when you want nuts and prunes in a honey cake. Choose the Classic when you want plain vanilla cream, and the Spartak when you want chocolate.

How do I order Honey Cake with Prunes & Nuts?

Send the enquiry form on this page with the size, the date and any writing you would like on the cake. The price comes back within a day. Sizes are six-inch at £110, eight-inch at £140 and ten-inch at £160, and the usual notice is 7–10 days, or at least 14 for two tiers.

Include any writing you want in the form, as it will be put on the cake. The cake is made to order, so the enquiry form is how we begin each order. Collection from our Bracknell studio is free, or we deliver from £30. Our studio is in Bracknell, Berkshire, and we deliver across Berkshire.
